Switzerland

Lake Geneva

I've just had a lovely few days away visiting my husband in Lausanne, which is on Lake Geneva, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.  We were surrounded by some lovely scenery and the weather was wonderfully warm and summer-like.

There were some wonderful market stalls selling all manner of edible leaves and toadstools as well as more normal produce.

Vegetable stall selling dandelion and wild garlic leaves as well as normal salads leaves and other vegetables.

  1. Lucky you! I spent some time in the area in my teens and was impressed with its spectacular beauty - and its cleanliness. Enjoy your break.

  2. Thank you, Gai, I had a lovely time and the scenery was pretty spectacular. The Alps seem to be the backdrop to almost everything.

  4. Indeed, Kay.

I'd only paid a very brief visit of a few hours to the Rheinfall at Shaffhausen before this, nipping over the border while holidaying on Lake Constance.

We spent a holiday in Austria and holidays in Southern Germany when I was in my late teens and early 20's. The last time I saw the Alps was 10 year ago when we went to Lake Constance for the day (from Ulm, not the UK).

  5. So beautiful, it is truly hard to believe such a place exits! I will have to place it on my big long list of places to visit. I am so jealous!

  6. Sarah, doesn't New Zealand have similar scenery?
