I imagine looking forward to your family holiday must help when you can't buy a frippery that catches your eye, but I would think it may have been a struggle at times.Karinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13913127925431380024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7669355936131828670.post-83391810909692855502012-11-29T12:59:44.664+00:002012-11-29T12:59:44.664+00:00Thanks for your response Gai and sorry I took so l...Thanks for your response Gai and sorry I took so long to get acknowledge it. Buying quality goods that last and buying local to help your own community thrive are positive ways to spend your money. I've just been browsing my local high street buying a few cards a presents, but I probably buy more than I should elsewhere.Karinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13913127925431380024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7669355936131828670.post-17482847191613120632012-11-28T23:08:39.240+00:002012-11-28T23:08:39.240+00:00We decided at the beginning of the year to buy not...We decided at the beginning of the year to buy nothing but essentials & have kept it up, apart from a few meals out. We did have to buy a new fridge in the summer, but do intend on being even more frugal next year.

We have a joint goal with the kids... We're aiming to have a holiday together before Christmas next year. So they all came over for lunch on Saturday & we're sticking to just our Secret Santa presents this year, so we'll all just either buy something second hand or make a gift for one person. We've set the limit to £10. It's nice now they are all old enough to do this with & none of us really like shopping, so it's great!

Kay :) Just Humans Beinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14896514191821358208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7669355936131828670.post-52800604920083009542012-11-23T18:41:42.178+00:002012-11-23T18:41:42.178+00:00I agree with your thoughts on the timing. I could always get round it by going shopping on Sunday instead, but that would be cheating.

I'm constantly trying to cut back on unnecessary purchases and opting for quality rather than quantity - particularly at Christmas when the temptation is to spend, spend, spend - just for the sake of it.

This year I'm subscribing to the Bristol Independents' Loyalty Card where every purchase wins a stamp (two if I pay with Bristol pounds)and every 5 stamps an entry in a prize draw.just Gaihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17410006899511613020noreply@blogger.com
